EuroMarine is an FP7 project which was launched a few months ago and which aims to make an integrated structure built upon the three former Ocean-related FP6 Networks of Excellence
One of the objectives of the EuroMarine project was defined as : “Train the next generation of marine scientists. Establish the educational landscape of marine biological sciences in the context of the “new 21st century” marine scientist in a cross-disciplinary perspective”.
During the EuroMarine Kick-off meeting in March in Gothenburg it was decided that within work package 6 an inventory of Marine Training possibilities will be set up. The Marine Biology Research group of Ghent University will take the lead in the establishment of this inventory.
The aim of this task is to make a listing of all training possibilities in the different partners of the three former NoE’s and make is accessible through an online portal. This listing could in the future serve as the starting point for trainees to get access to information about marine education.
With this initiative we target a whole range of training formats:
The targeted audience is broad:
We will collect and input information about these trainings in a database. Once this database reaches a certain level of completion it will become accessible through the EuroMarine website. Guidelines on the use of this repository will be posted to the EuroMarine website as well.
Hereby we want to invite you to send us information about training possibilities in Marine Sciences at your institute. This can be done in two ways:
In case certain information is not available indicate this by filling in "NA". Note that all input will be reviewed before it is being posted on the website.
We really hope through this initiative to create a valuable tool facilitating easy access to information about marine education.
